Active Scholars offers STEM workshops for Grade 3-8 students in private and public schools. As well for teachers and teacher candidates for students completing their Bachelor of Education! The workshops offered consists of Sphero BOLT robots, Lego Boost, Basketball & analytics, Media design & Green screens, and Beat production (all workshops are tailored to grade level).
"This STEM workshop taught me all of the curriculum connections I can make in my own classroom with coding and robotics, and I can see how this would be super engaging for my students!" (Teacher candidate, 2024)
On November 5th, we ran a STEM workshop for teacher candidates at Tyndale University and had great conversations surrounding the benefits of STEM in the classroom, cross-curricular connections, coding, and robotics! These TCs then explored with Sphero BOLT robots and created mazes with the use of protractors, that consisted of five different types of angles to program their Sphero in different ways. In all it was a great learning experience, and we are looking forward to future workshops in the new year!
